Part of our aim of at Seascope is to focus on educating the public about the importance of the fishing and aquaculture industry in Northern Ireland and researching the best feeding processes, how to make lobsters more disease resistant and improve growth
genetics and fecundity (reproduction). We operate a public education centre in our visitor centre which we aim to encourage people to learn about the local fisheries and the marine species which are very important to our economy and well as promoting sustainability and research. We are also involved in formal education, working with schools, colleges and specialised groups within the area. It’s our hope that through education, we can help make the change in consumer choice to buy sustainably sourced seafood and to promote the importance of managing our fisheries more responsibly to ensure that more people understand the issues faced by our local fishing communities.
If you are looking to visit us as part of an education tour through schools or colleges or community groups then visit our group bookings page for more information.
